Michael Borsuk
For YOUR Lewis College of Business Senator
Working For You!
I work for YOU. and nobody else!
I promise that with every vote I cast, every argument I make, and every political position I take: I do it based on Facts, Logic, and without personally attacking others. Even if we do not see eye-to-eye, I promise to be able to explain every vote and decision to you with logic and reasoning. I refuse to scream and complain because that's not how results are delivered. As your Senator, I promise to continue to pass legislation that will make a difference on the University's Campus. Marshall is a Great University, but of course, it has its problems. I plan to put my past record of delivering results to work for you. Doing what's right is hard, doing what's wrong is easy. I put my constituents first, listening to them and making sure they are informed, and have all the information they need when legislation is up for votes. - Michael
My Platform
Promoting Civic Literacy and Involvement on Campus: As a Double Major with Political Science Student, Past Chairman of the College Republicans, and an Eagle Scout, I have seen firsthand the lack of Civic Engagement and engagement with elected officials. Leading up to the 2022 Midterm Elections, the first during my College Career, I was part of the bipartisan effort to register students to vote and educate students about the Issues that were predominant during the election, including hosting a town hall with our elected senators to discuss Proposed amendments to the West Virginia Constitution. As we head into the 2024 elections, our students muts remain educated about the Processes and Functions of their government to become good citizens of the state and community.
Promoting Marshall as a Catalyst in the Community: Speaking from hometown experience, it is important that Marshall works together with entities within the Huntington Community and Beyond, we need to work together with community partners to provide resources that might not otherwise be known. I have pushed for parterships with our elected officials, and will continue to do so.
Exposing Marshall Statewide: In Order to attract Students, Marshall needs a Presence outside of the Southern Part of West Virginia. Coming from the Northern Panhandle, I know the bad reputation our university often gets, and I feel that increasing our Presence and Marketing to other parts of West Virginia is Necessary for Growth.
Working together: During my time in SGA, I've led the effort to bring our organization together to work with other student representative bodies on campus, to hear concerns and address issues. If Re-elected, I promise to continue to do so.
Utilize our Underused Resources:
Working for Student Athletes: During the past session of SGA, I spearheaded an effort with the Student Athlete's Advisory Council to discuss issues that our Student-Athletes face. While not a student-athlete myself, I admire the dedication and determination of all athletes, and will do whatever I can to help them be recognized and represented on campus.
About Me
Hi, I'm Michael !
Try Writing a Paragraph about yourself- It's harder than you think, so here's what you need to know:
I'm a Junior business administration and political science student currently serving as a senator for the Lewis College of Business.
During my first three years in the SGA, I have established a proven track record of standing up and producing real results, even when it's unpopular.
I'm a native of Wheeling, in the Northern Panhandle, and am the tenth person in my family to attend Marshall.
When I'm Free, you'll often find me running, working out, woodworking, collecting political and history memorabilia, and watching Professional track and field.
I have a proven track record of producing results across the board, from lobbying Wheeling City Council to stop a strip mine, to working with our legislators in Charleston to on Bills to benefit the Students of Marshall. I will continue to use my skills to benefit YOU.
